About Mark Ancona

Mark Ancona’s wine palate was initiated at an early age, at the left hand seat of his great grandfather Telo, during the multi-generational family gatherings. After receiving a degree in Journalism at the  University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he worked with renowned importer Frederick Wildman peddling Burgundy and Rhône wines, amongst other beauties, to top restaurants and retail establishments in the Hamptons. He later moved to London where he received a Diploma from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust.  He has since attained the prestigious Master of Wine title. During that time, Mark and his friend John Atkinson, started an import company specializing in Rhône and Alasce wines called Winesearch, Inc., a moniker that still exists as the corporate name of his retail venture Fountainhead Wines and Distillations.

About Fountainhead Wines and Distillations

Fountainhead established in 1995, began in a jewel-box shop in Norwalk, CT as an outlet for a burgeoning import company that sought to defy “wine trends”. Featuring a hand picked collection of small production wines, Fountainhead focuses on growers that are aligned with the earth, with an emphasis on terroir.  At Fountainhead, wines are chosen for price range and style as opposed to categories; resulting in a shop filled with unique, value driven wine.  Since its inception, Mark and his partners opened a second shop in Bedford Hills, NY and a wine bar in Norwalk,CT named Fact Cat Pie Co.
