Volunteers contribute actively to our organization and assist in all phases of operations.

Volunteer Opportunities

    • Assist with hospitality and refreshments

  • Help maintain our historic grounds

Greeter/Gift Shop at the Norwalk Historical Society Museum

Greet visitors and help out in the gift shop at the Norwalk Historical Society Museum, located on the campus of Norwalk City Hall at 125 East Avenue. The gift shop is filled with many unique items made by Connecticut artists. The Museum and Gift Shop are open, Wednesday through Saturday, Noon-4pm. Shifts are Noon-4pm, with flexibility for your schedule. We welcome both adults and Senior high school students in this position. Must have basic understanding in the use of an Apple iPad.

Tour Guide (Docent) at Mill Hill Historic Park

Conduct visitor tours of Mill Hill Historic Park (2 East Wall Street, Norwalk, CT), on an as-needed basis during our open season, April-November. Training is provided.

High School Students

We offer opportunities throughout the year for high school junior and senior students to earn community service hours. Responsibilities vary but may entail providing administrative support, doing research, assist with the museum collections and exhibition projects, supporting marketing and communications efforts (social media and/or print media), or assist at events. Hours are flexible.

College Internships

We offer internships for college students throughout the year. Responsibilities vary but may entail doing in-depth research for a new exhibit, assist curatorial staff with the museum collections and exhibition projects, or supporting marketing and communications efforts (social media and/or print media). Hours are flexible.
