Join the Norwalk Historical Society for the lecture, “The Story of the Nathan Hale Fountain” with local historian, Lisa Wilson Grant on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 5:30pm (EDT) via Zoom.
The lecture will explore Nathan Hale’s connection to Norwalk, the installation of the McKim, Mead & White designed Nathan Hale Memorial fountain by the DAR in 1901, the story of all the places the various parts of the fountain traveled to, and the perseverance of Lisa Wilson Grant to track down the missing fountain parts and return them to Norwalk for installation at Fodor Farm. The lecture will end with a Q & A.
About the Presenter
Lisa Wilson Grant is a lifelong Norwalk resident who enjoys history, especially genealogy and local Norwalk history. Grant is involved in many local groups. She is a Commissioner in the Norwalk Historical Commission, Regent of the Norwalk-Village Green Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), an exhibiting member of the Rowayton Arts Center, a member of the Rowayton Gardeners, and Chair of the Roton Point History Committee. Grant is the author of several local history books, “Images of America: Norwalk” which features vintage photographs of Norwalk, CT, and “Roton Point” a former amusement park which used to be in Rowayton. She is an avid quilter and photographer, and enjoys babysitting her two grandsons. Together with her husband Jordan, she draws landscape designs for Minutemen Land Services, Inc.
