DESCRIPTION:Revisiting the 1779 British Raids:\nCommemorating the Battle and Burning of Norwalk with the 2nd Continental Light Dragoons 10:00am-1:00pm\, July 11 at Mill Hill Historic ParkAdmission is free to the public\n																\n															 \nFrom 10am-2pm on Saturday July 11\, the Norwalk Historical Society joins New Haven\, Fairfield\, and Westport/Green Farms in a special regional partnership\, “Revisiting the 1779 British Raids\,” commemorating the coastal British raids that swept through Connecticut during the American Revolution. \nThis event features Revolutionary War history\, equipment demonstrations\, and children’s drills. Visitors can also tour the Little Red Schoolhouse\, Governor Fitch Law Office\, the Town House\, the Battle & Burning of Norwalk exhibit\, and Norwalk’s third oldest cemetery. No ticket required.  \n			 \n  \n

Invented and built by David Bushnell\, the Turtle was piloted by Sgt. Ezra Lee in an attack on the flagship of the British North American fleet\, HMS Eagle\, the first such attack against an enemy ship in history.
