Learn about the soldiers of the 17th Connecticut\, the Fairfield County Regiment\, through the Gettysburg campaign in June and July 1863. \nThis was a pivotal moment in American history. They describe what they saw\, thought\, and felt on the battlefield. These are the words of those who lived through the trauma of combat and survived to write about it. Light refreshments will be served following the presentation. \n\n\nDon’t miss this chance to connect with Connecticut’s Civil War history and honor the local heroes who marched into one of the defining moments of the American story. \n\n \n\n\nAbout Carolyn IvanoffCarolyn Ivanoff is a retired high school administrator\, author\, and independent historian specializing in 19th-century American history\, with a focus on the Civil War and Connecticut’s historical legacy. \nNamed the American Battlefield Trust’s Teacher of the Year in 2003\, she has received multiple Awards of Merit from the Connecticut League of History Organizations for her educational and preservation work\, including the 2018 rededication of the 17th Connecticut Flagpole at Gettysburg.
